It sounds counter intuitive to say that the act of eating can actually TRIGGER hunger. But it can.
Don’t believe me?
Notice how you feel before your first meal of the day. Likely a LITTLE hungry.
Now contrast that with the way you feel once you’ve started eating, especially if you’re eating starchy carbs and/or sugar. Hmmm, now you have a ravenous hunger!
So you’re hungrier now than when you started!
There is a phrase in the Lord’s Prayer, “…lead us not into temptation…” Many people understand this phrase, but did you realize that it applies to food too?
The more we give in to the relatively small temptation to gorge ourselves with starchy carbs and/or sugar, the more we are led down the path of temptation. The temptation to eat more becomes stronger!
Better to minimize the trek down that path, or avoid it altogether. Because once you indulge that path, it is filled with fire and will burn you up!
So watch your eating triggers, and know that the earlier you catch and resist them, the easier it is to avoid the temptation.
Fight the baby bear, an easier battle than the Grizzly!
